Indoor Facility
This purpose built modern obstetrics and Gyaenacology Hospital has 5 floors, General ward is 90-bedded area, which includes gynaecology ward, Prenatal ward, postnatal ward and the newborn nursery. The basement comprises of the diagnostics namely Pathology Lab, Radiology and Blood Bank. The Ground Floor houses the administration as well as 20-bedded emergency ward equipped with latest CTG machines, Ultra Sound, Emergency resuscitation equipment including a Defibrillator.
The labor ward floor has 10-bedded High Dependency area where the postoperative as well as high risk patients are carefully monitored. The labor ward has separate Isolation and Eclampsia delivery suites, five 2 nd stage Delivery tables and nine, 1 st stage beds. The annual delivery rate has increased from about 1500 in 1994 to more then 5000 in 2003. This floor also houses four latest well-equipped operation theatres, designated as obstetric theatre, Gynae Theatre, Isolation Theatre and Endoscopy Theatre. The Endo Scopy Theatre has a state of art hysteroscopy unit, Operative Laparoscope facility as well as a Colposcope.
Private Ward comprises of 35 bedded ward with state of Art colour Doppler unit as well as Day Care HystroScopy facility.
OPD:
The outpatient Deptt provides prenatal care & high-risk pregnancy Clinics. It also has a busy Day Care unit that provide CTG & USG facility to high risk pregnancies in the outpatient set up. General Gynaecology OPD as well as specialist Clinics including menstrual irregularity, infertility & Cervical Screening Clinic are a regular lecture. About 300-350 patients are examined daily in the OPD. Patients who need observation only are kept in the day care centre to minimize the work load of the indoor department as well as patient's inconvenience. A separate emergency and accident centre works round the clock where obstetrics and gynaecological emergencies are dealt with. Medicolegal services are also provided in the same department.
MCH training Center : Caters for training and retraining of Health Care workers & outreach programme for ICT.
Research and Academics
MCH is highly active in research and academic activities. The efficient and competent faculty is a part of the various national and foreign societies and organization in various disciplines of Medical profession. The academic programme includes regular morbidity mortality case review sessions. Weekly journal Club, bedside presentation, subject discussions & tutorials. Fortnightly Clinic Pathological Conference and Neonatal meeting are improving inter departmental cooperation & interaction. Regular workshop, postgraduate intensive courses and guest lectures are conducted in collaboration with the different medical institution in the country and institution abroad.
Papers have also been presented in international Conferences including international Congress of Royal College of Obst/Gynae. in Sydney Australia in Oct 2002 & WHO Meeting, Cairo,Egypt in Feb 2002 as well as national meetings including PMA Conference Rawalpindi March 2003,Society of Obst etricians & Gynaecologist Congress in Lahore in Oct 2003,Psychiatrio Congress in Islamabad in January 2004.
