PROFILE OF THE DEPARTMENT:
Department of Dermatology was established in 1986 with
DrRiaz A Sheikh as head of the department with two
Medical Officers. Later the department has progressed
to become a postgraduate center with FCPS, MD and MCPS
training facilities.Currently there are postgraduate
well trained doctors working in Dermatology which
comprises of:

DrMaqsood Anwar, Consultant Dermatologist, MBBS,
D.Derm (Thailand), Master of Clinical Topical Medicine
(AIDS)

DrRiffatYasmeen, Senior Registrar, MBBS, FCPS (PK).
FACILITIES PROVIDED BY THE DEPARTMENT:
Department of Dermatology is running an Outdoor and
Indoor services with 08 beds. Additional patients can
be admitted in Children hospital and Private wards.In
addition to routine outpatient department, which
comprises of 150-200 patients per day and children
hospital 50-80 patients per day, we have got following
additional units in the department.
Phototherapy Unit:
We have got two PUVA lamps with one total body
radiation unit and one partial body.
Dermo-Surgical Unit
We do Incisional and excisional biopsies on regular
basis where required. Skin grafting, flap procedures,
curettage electro surgery are also done.
Chemical peeling
Chemical peeling that includes Salicylic Acid and
glycolic Acid peeling is done in routine for patients
with Melasma, Post inflammatory hyper pigmentation and
Post Acne scarring. TCA with variable strengths is
applied for plain warts, viral warts and some benign
pathology.
Dermatopathology unit
A weekly Dermatopathology conference is held in the
department supervised by the Professor of Pathology.
All the postgraduate trainees actively participate in
the conference. All skin slides are thoroughly studied
and reported in the light of expertise opinion.
Research Cell.
We have got a regular research cell which keeps on
doing studies on different topics and patients Till
now several papers have been presented and published
by the Department of Dermatology.
Audio Visual Unit.
We are taking pictures/making slides of interesting
rare atypical and typical patients and these slides
are used for teaching post graduate
students.Weeklydematopathology conference is held in
the department with this audiovisual unit.
