Depatment has the honour to be the first one to start head and neck cancer surgery center in this region.This is the only center where laryngeal reconstructive surgery is done.

Cryosurgery is available which in Govt. sector only done here.

Department has proper audiological set up which includes bekesy audiometer, tympanometer, latest pure tune audiometer.

Department has speech and language therapy facility for patients with speech problems and also provides oesophageal voice therapy to laryngectomized patients.

There is a separate paediatric ENT unit for provision of treatment facilities to children.

More than 50 papers have been published in national and international journals and a lot of studies have been presented in national and international conferences.

Prof. Bangash has written a book on ENT Emergencies which has been published in England .

Department has a honour to be the first one to start publishing handbook for postgraduate trainees in PIMS.

Thirty one doctors trained at the department have obtained their fellowship from the College of Physicians and Surgeons.

FUTURE PLANS

The department plans to arrange more temporal bone dissections courses, procure equipment for setting up the facility of endoscopic sinus surgery, laser surgery and cochlear implants. There is need of Auditory Brainstem Response equipment in the department as there is no facility available for screening of hearing disability in children.

The department would also like to come up with a fund for provision of prosthesis for post maxillectomy and post mandibulectomy. As there is a large number of patients undergoing laryngectomies it would be useful to have Blom Singer prosthesis available for speech rehabilitation of these patients.
